A Day in the Park

I love playing in the park, but mostly I love that so many people came to play with us!!! Nothing beats being able to just hang around and do nothing or play something if you feel like it. There were many activities from which to choose, such as:

Kite Flying with No Wind (more challenging than you'd expect)

Climbing Trees (with a hint of romance)

Playing Badminton Banjo with Papa
(what's this spell check telling me its "minton" not "mitton"...who knew???)

The Serious Folks stuck with Croquet...rather competitive group it was I might add...

Then there was Jen and the Pink Baby!!! Cutie!!

It was a nice way to kick of the unofficial start to summer. I'm all set to get that leisurely side of me back again!
Today(Monday) was supposed to be "schoolwork day" for both me and Trav. We started okay, then Trav lost one of his documents, spent an hour trying to track it down and when he did (thank goodness) it was all "strikethrough-ed"---weird. So he lost an hour or so there of work. I did my first part of work, took a study break and went to the store. He calls to see if he should go visit his friend who's in town this week. I reminded him that it was schoolwork day (as I was shopping;) I suggested he meet said friend later in the week, after Schoolwork Day. He thanked me for the suggestion and hung up. When I got home about 1/2 hour later, there was Trav in the driveway, washing the car, wait, no, not just washing, that would be too easy...My procrastinatory partner was waxing his car, of course. A three hour study break for him, I guess!
We enjoyed our dinner out in the backyard with a glass of French Rose (rosay)...a lovely way to wind down a delightful weekend!
Have a great week, everyone!

PS...

I graduate on August 11th and I can assure you that after I won't devote my blog to complaining about my workload...Just imagine how exciting my life will be then...Gosh, I hope I'll still find the time to blog at all...

I'm a Drop-Out

Sorry Tasha, you already got this story...

So, ladies and gents (actually, I think you're all ladies who read this), I have officially reached my wits end and have decided to "screw it"...no, not the whole degree thing, but the aromatherapy certificate part of it. First of all, who knew that the workshop I went to in February that I was hoping to turn into an internship (for degree, which I did) was going to consist of so much freakin' outside of workshop work...So, in knowing it was counting as my Internship, I cranked away at it, handed in all my assignments to the dimwit teacher who never sent me a word of feedback and finally, I finished all the required coursework and requested that my "test" be sent to me so that I could officially wrap up the program and get my certificate. Well...let me tell you about this ridiculous test about stuff I really have no sincere interest in...the hours of my life that would be wasted away on this..."What is your healing path of aromatherapy?" First of all lady, that question doesn't even make sense...how the heck do I answer something that doesn't make sense nor does it even apply to me because aromatherapy is not my "healing path"...my healing path is not doing your stupid exam, lady, got it???
It was actually a great big weight lifted off me when I really decided that I didn't have to do this. I counted up my hours of work both in and out of the workshop and I easily exceeded the 54 hours for the internship requirement. Hmmmm, if I had my choice, what would I have done with those 54 hours (mind you, these hours also occurred during the 40 hours I spent driving out to the herb shop to do my mentorship, oh, and the regular job that pays)...when I realize all of the STUFF I've been doing, I'm much more understanding of my high-strung-ed-ness over the past several months.
I'm not out of the water yet though. I do still have to do my Culminating Project which is to design that nutrition program which started out as a team effort and is now, well, just me. Whatever I want. No guidance, no support, no idea what the heck I'm doing, but alas, I am really good at the art of Acting As If to the people who I am doing this for...
So that will be my Memorial Monday job and my personal day job. It's nice to not have to think about aromatherapy though...Don't do it Tasha...it's not worth it!!!
That's the vent.
Saturday we get to go to a wedding of a friend from work...looking forward to that! Sunday will be our Day in the Park (cross fingers for no rain)! And Monday is devoted to the Art of Bullsh#*!! I'm sure there's an aromatherapy bullsh#* blend somewhere...

Okay, Okay, I'll Write Something!!

So, needless to say, I've been a bit busy over the past few weeks (even Jen has a more recent post than me!!!) Let's see...we had a tag sale two weekends ago which I was planning on making a specific post about, but I didn't 'cause after the week of chaos and a disaster of a house preparing for that came crunch week to prep and catch up in any way possible for my weekend class, which was last Friday and Saturday...only 3 more months to go, thank god!!
Yes, when I'm busy doing stuff I don't necessarily Want to do, I get stressed out and whatnot and feel like I'm always needing to be DOING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE...I've just been so wiped out and so overextended (woe is me) that when I feel like I'm SUPPOSED to do something, I don't end up doing it.
But anyway, all of the sudden at class on Saturday, I was writing out what I had left to do still and as it turned out, I don't have much left...which was such a wonderful and relieving discovery. Of course, I immediately booked up the time that I didn't need to be "schoolworking" with Getting Exercise, which is always the first to go when I feel crunched for time (which leads to increased stress because exercise has always been a stress outlet for me...not to mention the tremendous self-esteem booster). So, I'm back in the game again! I had my first co-ed soccer practice of the season...We never practice for the women's team, we just show up and play, which is fun and nice and good and all, but just a practice scrimmage was so much more FUN, minus the stress of winning, etc. Just good ol' fun exercise, running in circles, chasing a ball, falling down...I really enjoy playing soccer...beats the crap out of walking or jogging in place at the gym! And today I went with kayaking Jenn for a jog around the lake and the best part was getting to put our feet in the refreshingly cold and clean water. So nice and relaxing looking out over the lake...

Victimized

Each year, we eagerly await their arrival. This year was a little slow-going though, due to the late snows and all the rain early in the season. Each morning before I go to my car, I check on their progress, seeing who's pushing up through the mulch. On weekend mornings, Travis and I, coffee and tea cups in hand, take a stroll around the house, observing who's coming up where, reminding each other of what plants were moved, and where the new bulbs went in.

And each year it happens. The daffodils come up first, happily blooming in the sunshine as the day lily greens push up and expand their territory (as planned), and the tulips, yes the tulips, their green leaves perk on up and we watch, full of hope that it might not happen this year, that things might be different for a change. But alas, it seems inevitable...the disappointment, the horror, the false hope...

It appears to be a beautiful sunny day in the garden, but don't be fooled. Take a closer look...

Still not convinced that there is victimization occuring? Look on...

Note the clean-cut stem on the left...

Oh poor little tulips, we pay you tribute...
